I recently came across a flyer for a wonderful walk to raise funds and spread awareness for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). CAS is a motor speech disorder that results from difficulty with the planning and coordination of the speech musculature (e.g., lips, tongue, jaw). It is not a result from weakened or paralyzed muscles, but rather difficulty with the signal from the brain that coordinates muscle movements in order to say sounds, syllables, and words.
