Identifying Verbs and Final /s/ Words

July 20, 2015

I have a friend that has two little sweeties that have IEP goals, and she shared those goals with me in order to give me some inspiration for this post.  For today’s post I am uploading materials related to their goals: action verbs and the speech sound /s/.

Action Verbs

I love, love, love using the Photo Actions cards shown below. They are bright, attractive, and contain frequent everyday actions. The set comes with 40 cards in a storage case and can be purchased on Amazon for $12.99! That is a great price for these quality cards. I have used the same deck for over 2 years and they still look brand new!

“S” sound

There are a ton of free materials that you can find by just googling . Here is one link to Mommy Speech Therapy blog where the author has uploaded articulation worksheets for all speech sounds. Just scroll down to /s/ and choose what word position you would like (e.g., initial, medial, final).

I have also created a final /s/ BINGO game that can be downloaded here. It comes with 4 playing cards, so that siblings and parents can play along. Have your child practice saying the words that he/she finds on their card. BINGO is a great way to get a lot of practice in a small amount of time!

I hope everyone has a great week!
